DIY – How to attach a wool pom-pom to your hat

A pom-pom will freshen up your hat and add a playful finishing touch.

Our pom-poms are made from exactly the same yarn as our classic hats: 100% RWS-certified merino wool. There are 18 colours to choose from! Soft to the touch and durable, they turn leftover yarn from production into something lovely. An accessory that looks good and helps reduce waste, too.

How do you attach a pom-pom to your hat?

Choose a new hat with a pom-pom or use .OMYK. to freshen up a hat you already own. Each pom-pom comes with a large-eye needle to make attaching it to the top of your hat easy. Follow our tutorial below — we promise you won’t need any special sewing skills!

Attaching your pom-pom step by step

Thread one of the two yarn ends through the needle, then pass it between the stitches at the top of your hat.
Once the yarn end is inside the hat, hold it in place and repeat with the second end, inserting the needle on the opposite side of the crown.
Tie the two yarn ends together inside the hat, ideally in a bow. Voilà!

This keeps your pom-pom securely attached while making it easy to untie whenever you fancy a change. Don’t trim the yarn ends — that way, you can always reuse your .OMYK. or give it to someone else when you’re ready for something new.
